About the Lab

Located in Walton Institute at South East Technological University (SETU) in Waterford, the Extended Reality (XR) Innovation Lab bridges the gap between research and industry to create immersive solutions that redefine how we work, learn, and engage. 

XR encompasses Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) to blend digital and physical worlds. These technologies enable immersive simulations, interactive experiences, and data-driven insights across industries.

The XR lab consists of the following:

• Mobile (Android & iOS): Samsung Tab, iPad, iPad Pro.
• Mixed Reality Headset : Microsoft HoloLens 2.
• VR hardware Meta Quest 3, HTC Vive Pro and HTC Vive Trackers.
• Computer vision : 360 degree video capture – with Go Pro MAX cameras.
• Computer Vision: Object scanning via LiDAR and depth sensing – using RealSense cameras and iPad LiDAR.
• GoPro MAX, Intel RealSense D435, T265, L515, iPad Pro LiDAR scanner.
• EEG: Enobio 20-channel EEG headset
• Locomotion: Kat walk omnidirectional VR treadmill
• NLP Voice Assistant: Mycroft
• Drone: Mavic 2 – 4K Video
• A full body haptic feedback and motion capture tracking VR suit
