Hazel Peavoy, Project Lead for the ENTIRE European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) at Walton Institute, proudly presented ENTIRE and its role within the EDIH Network at AgTech Ireland’s recent flagship event, ‘Transforming Agriculture with Artificial Intelligence‘.

Held on May 21 in partnership with the Irish Farmers Journal and sponsored by FBD Insurance and Enterprise Ireland, the high-profile conference convened key stakeholders from across Ireland’s agricultural sector. The focus: exploring how AI can help agribusinesses and farmers tackle pressing economic, environmental, and social challenges.

The event was formally opened by Martin Heydon TD, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, who emphasised the government’s commitment to innovation in agriculture. A compelling keynote was delivered by Dr Patricia Scanlon, Ireland’s AI Ambassador and Chair of the AI Advisory Council, who challenged attendees to look “beyond the hype” and consider the real-world impact of artificial intelligence.

Throughout the day, participants engaged with both global and local case studies illustrating AI’s transformative role in the agri-food ecosystem. The morning focused on the rapid adoption of AI technologies across the agfood value chain, while the afternoon turned to practical solutions and on-farm integration.

During her presentation, Hazel Peavoy showcased how ENTIRE is actively supporting Irish SMEs, public sector organisations (PSOs), and farmers in their digital transformation journeys. She highlighted the AI tools, services, and supports available through the EDIH network—positioning ENTIRE as a key enabler of innovation within Ireland’s agricultural landscape.

“This event was a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate how ENTIRE and the wider EDIH ecosystem are making advanced technologies like AI accessible and usable for those working on the ground,” said Hazel. “By supporting digitalisation at all levels, we’re helping to future-proof Irish agriculture and create sustainable growth opportunities.”

The AgTech Ireland event reinforced the vital role of collaboration between policymakers, technology providers, and the farming community to ensure AI delivers meaningful impact across Ireland’s rural economy. As part of the European Digital Innovation Hubs Network, ENTIRE is proud to be at the forefront of this transformation.
